Meshuggah‘s performance at the 1997 PopStad awards in Umeå was an interesting one. Mostly because of the melodica solo by vocalist Jens Kids around the 13 minute mark in the middle of “Soul Burn”. Actually, it’s entirely because of that reason.
In all seriousness though, Meshuggah in 1997 was still a force to be reckoned with despite their youth (and the fact that they only had two albums out at the time). The show ran as follows:
0:35 – “Humiliative”
5:45 – “Transfixion”
9:50 – “Soul Burn”
16:50 – “Future Breed Machine”
23:00 – “Sickening”
