VINCE NEIL, TOMMY LEE, NIKKI SIXX & JOHN 5 Pick Their Favorites Of MÖTLEY CRÜE’s First Two Records

In a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation, all four Mötley Crüe members, shared their personal favorites between the band’s first two legendary albums, Too Fast For Love and Shout at the Devil. During their lively discussion with host Eddie Trunk, they also reminisced about their early days and the shared bond of being high school dropouts.

The question of which album stands out the most – between those two – sparked some intriguing responses. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee found themselves torn between the two albums, reflecting on the different phases of their early career.

“That’s so hard,” Sixx admitted, recalling the vibrant memories tied to their debut album. “Because I have so many fond memories of that first record. Tommy and Vince and me all lived in an apartment together and I remember trying to copy Mott the Hoople‘s ‘All the Young Dudes’ writing ‘On With the Show.’ I remember we went to rehearsal and then we played at the Troubadour. It’s hard to ever top those beautiful moments later. But then Shout At the Devil, we finally got more money and we had more ideas. It kind of added some steroids to the sound.”

Tommy Lee humorously combined the two, declaring his choice as “Too Shout For Love,” illustrating his difficulty in choosing one over the other.

Vince Neil, however, had a clear favorite: the band’s raw and energetic debut album, Too Fast For Love. “Just because it was our first record together,” Neil stated. He emphasized the unique quality of their early work, noting, “The songs are really raw but they’re really good.”

In contrast, John 5 selected Shout at the Devil as his top pick. The guitarist vividly described his initial impression of the album’s striking cover featuring a black pentagram and the impact of its powerful tracks. “Then you drop the needle and it’s just like every song — every song — boom, boom, boom,” he enthused, highlighting the album’s relentless energy and memorable music videos.
