SACRI MONTI Brings The ’70s Heaviness With New Album Retrieval

Get out those bell bottoms and pack that bong, because it’s time for the new Sacri Monti record Retrieval! We’re thrilled to stream the San Diego’s psych-heavy headbangers’ new record today prior to its release on July 26, or at the very least we’re happy to provide a soundtrack for your extracurricular activities later this afternoon.

“I think Retrieval is the most mature album we have made so far, and I would encourage people to check out our first self-titled album and follow-up Waiting Room for The Magic Hour to see how much we have grown,” said Sacri Monti bassist Anthony Meier. “Before our first record was made, we spent years jamming with each other when and wherever we could find a place to make noise. I used to record a bunch of jams with a handheld Tascam and have hundreds of recordings. Those years helped shape us.

“But I think it’s good to have that freedom and a good mix of structure and controlled chaos and if you listen to the first album and some live recordings you can hear it all there. The songs on Retrieval were super spread out as far as writing goes. We were toying with different ideas for a few years, until they eventually all came together. It’s been long overdue, and it feels great to finally release this third album of ours. It’s crazy to think we played our first show at the end of 2012 and now here we are in 2024.”
