Oceans Of Slumber is now streaming their darker take on Chris Isaak‘s 1989 hit “Wicked Game”. Not that the original was a joyous occasion, but Oceans Of Slumber‘s take on the track is definitely doomier than Isaak‘s original.
“I’m sure we’ll cover ‘Crying’ [by Roy Orbison] at some point down the line,” said Oceans Of Slumber vocalist Cammie Beverly. “But in the end, this album called for something more unexpected.”
On choosing the song, Oceans Of Slumber drummer Dobber Beverly said: “When we were in Columbia, I heard a club remix of ‘Wicked Game’ while out at a restaurant. It was so bad that I needed to go and make things right in my head.”
“We’ve taken the raw and heavier direction of our last two albums and elevated it to the scale of a blockbuster IMAX movie,” he added. “Our cover of ‘Wicked Game’ is the song that plays over the end credits.”
Oceans Of Slumber‘s new album Where Gods Fear To Speak comes out September 13. Pre-orders are available here. You can also grab your tickets to go see Oceans Of Slumber at the upcoming Metal Injection festival this September right here.
