Without further ado, introducing the authors and their works:
“Fundamentals of Chemistry for Today” presents a reimagined approach to a single-semester General, Organic and Biochemistry course. It connects to students’ interests by integrating examples of health care applications throughout the text and online homework. Author Tiffiny Rye-McCurdy brought her deep experience in academic success to this project by integrating scaffolded learning approaches that have helped her students succeed in a challenging course.
Dr. Spencer L. Seager served for 52 years as a Faculty Member of the Chemistry Department from Weber State University. He served as Department Chairman and taught General and Physical Chemistry at the university. Dr. Seager was also active in projects to help improve Chemistry and other Science education in local elementary schools. He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Utah.
Dr. Tiffiny D. Rye-McCurdy is the Administrative Manager of the Academic Success Center and a lecturer in Chemistry at The Ohio State University at Marion, where she assists students in learning the concepts of Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Rye-McCurdy currently teaches GOB Chemistry, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. She received her B.A. in ACS Certified Biochemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University and received her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University Biochemistry program. Dr. Rye-McCurdy is involved in community outreach as the Co-coordinator of Ohio State Marion’s Science and Engineering camps for high school and middle school students.
Dr. Ryan J. Yoder is an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University, serving the regional campus in Marion, OH. Dr. Yoder previously taught GOB Chemistry at Marion before joining the full-time faculty in 2013. He currently teaches Organic Chemistry lecture and laboratory. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University and received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Dr. Yoder mentors undergraduate research students at Marion and Columbus, examining protein-ligand interactions towards therapeutics against threats from chemical weapons and cancer.
“Macroeconomics: Theory & Applications” is the highly anticipated addition to the Intermediate Macroeconomics course. This new title offers a contemporary treatment of macroeconomic models, bridging academic theory with practical application. It was written with both undergrad and MBA students in mind with interactive features and integration of real-world data from the Federal Reserve (FRED).
Dr. Robert Lester is an Associate Professor of Economics at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Prior to joining Colby in 2015, he earned his Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s degree at the University of Montana. He teaches classes in Principles and Intermediate Macroeconomics and Economic Growth. Professor Lester’s research is in Applied Macroeconomics with a particular focus in monetary policy and labor markets. His research has appeared in academic journals, such as the “Review of Economics” and “Statistics and European Economic Review.” He cofounded the Workshop on Economic Dynamics, which brings together Macroeconomists from the Northeast for an annual research conference.
