Abigor guitarist and bassist Peter Kubik has died at 49 years old. Kubik is one of Abigor‘s two founding members alongside Thomas Tannenberger, and played both guitar and bass in the band. On Kubik‘s death, Abigor only offered that he “walked through the gate by his own hand, through his own will.”
Kubik played on every Abigor record from their 1994 debut Verwüstung / Invoke the Dark Age up to their last effort, Taphonomia Aeternitatis – Gesänge im Leichenlicht der Welt in 2023.
“PK 1975 – 2024 immortal in his legacy – blood (family), soil (home) and monuments of Black Metal art. walked through the gate by his own hand, through his own will,” wrote Abigor on their Facebook page. “(photo below May 1995 during the recording of Nachthymnen. more following during the next days. keep your respectful distance to the bereaved for now!)”
