Trusting God's Timing

We all have those moments when we ask God to change our situation, hoping for a quick fix. But what if those situations are there to change us instead?

It’s so easy to want things to change in a few weeks or months—or maybe even a few years if we’re feeling really patient. But God’s timeline is often different. He tends to work in decades.

While we focus on outcomes and breakthroughs, God is more interested in the journey. He uses those waiting periods and delays to shape, strengthen, and prepare us for what He has planned.

He uses the journey to renew our minds, build our character, and help us discover who He always intended us to be.

When we look back on our lives, we can often see the bigger picture—how God was working behind the scenes all along. His process might feel slow to us, but it’s perfectly timed. And that slow process is intentional. It’s through the day-to-day decisions, through the waiting, that God is molding us.

Take my story, for example. In 2007, I was living life my way, thinking I had it all under control. But God had other plans. That year, everything was taken away—my car, job, home, marriage, status, and friends. All I had left were my parents and children, and I moved back home to start over. It was a tough pill to swallow, but God was pressing the reset button on my life. From 2007 to 2017, I spent a decade realigning my life with God’s plan. During that time, He built my character and prepared me for something bigger than I could ever  imagine.

Then, in 2017, my husband and I took over Women of Faith. Looking back, I can see how crucial that decade of preparation was. It wasn’t just about getting me to lead Women of Faith; it was about preparing me to be the leader. And now, as I approach another decade, I can see how much God has transformed me over these past years. All the growth, all the learning, all the change—it has all happened as I went through the process.

So, as we go through our journeys, let’s remember that it’s not about just getting to a particular destination. Let’s embrace the process and ask God, “What are you teaching me right now?” Even when things are tough, He’s always at work. We need to stay patient and trust HIm.

And who knows? In another ten years, we might look back and be amazed at how much God has done in our lives!
