LINKIN PARK’s EMILY ARMSTRONG Responds To Scientology Criticisms

The Linkin Park reunion has been a lively one as far as headlines go. Within 24 hours of the band announcing their return with vocalist Emily Armstrong, Linkin Park had to address the absence of original drummer Rob Bourdon as well as reveal that guitarist Brad Delson wouldn’t be touring with them.

Amidst all the above were criticisms against Armstrong over her support for fellow Scientologist Danny Masterson during his trial. Masterson was convicted of raping two women in 2003 during a trial in May 2023, with a third count of rape resulting in a hung jury. Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison in September 2003.

The Mars Volta vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala‘s wife Chrissie Carnell-Bixler was especially critical of Armstrong, as she was one of the women who accused Masterson of rape. Cedric and Chrissie have been vocal about the Church Of Scientology’s alleged harassment against them after Chrissie came forward, with Chrissie posting the following on his Instagram stories:

Linkin Park‘s new lead singer is a hardcore Scientologist who supporting convicted serial rapist both in and out of court. Emily Armstrong is a true believer of the Scientology cult/criminal organization that engages in human and child trafficking, child and elder abuse, the coverups of countless SAs on children and adults.

“Also is a true believer of LRH who said Homosexuals are sexual deviants on the same level as pedophiles and all homosexuals should be sent off to a leper colony. You can read all about Scientologists’ views on LGBT community in Science of Survival or Dianetics.”

Armstrong has since responded in her own Instagram stories, saying she regrets supporting Masterson and that she does not support abuse or violence against women.

“Hi, I’m Emily,” wrote Armstrong. “I’m new to so many of you, and I wanted to clear the air about something that happened a while back.

“Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty.

“To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes.”
