AUGUST BURNS RED To Independently Release A New Single This Week

Good news! August Burns Red is releasing a new single called “Exhumed” on September 13. Weird news! The single is being released via August Burns Red‘s own label ABR Records and not SharpTone Records. So I guess August Burns Red is an independent band now?

August Burns Red released their 2023 album Death Below via SharpTone Records, but has released some live stuff and the Leveler: 10^th Anniversary Edition via their own ABR Records. So this will be the first release of solely new music independently for August Burns Red.

The arrival of new music also comes ahead of August Burns Red releasing the re-recorded version of their 2005 debut album Thrill Seeker. According to vocalist Jake Luhrs in a recent Instagram post, the re-recording is currently underway and does not have a release date.

“So we’re in the studio, day one for the rerecord of Thrill Seeker, and in reality, I am really, really excited about recording this record because when I first heard Thrill Seeker not being in the band, obviously, from South Carolina, I was just blown away by this album,” said Luhrs. “And in my opinion, it was very progressive for the time.

I remember being at a party and my buddy John showed me the record, and I was like ‘Oh my gosh, I wanna be in a band that sounds like this. This is the style of music that I want to be a part of.’ Little did I know that maybe six months later I was gonna have a phone call with Brent, our guitarist, and be like ‘Hey man, come try out to be the frontman of August Burns Red.’

“So this album was the beginning of my journey as the frontman for August Burns Red in my musical career. These songs I listened to over and over and over again. Not only because I had to tour some of these songs earlier in my career with August Burns Red, but they just meant so much to me and I just love them so much.

“So being able to actually be on the record Thrill Seeker today and be able to contribute to a record that impacted my life before I was with August Burns Red just means so much to me, and I’m super pumped.”

This version of Thrill Seeker does not currently have a release date.
