Leaders at Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) saw that with textbooks costing upwards of $1,000 per year, many students were facing a barrier that made showing up for class prepared a challenge. They knew that this issue was impacting their retention and completion rates but hadn’t yet found a solution that would increase affordability and student readiness across the board.
When a faculty member recommended Cengage Unlimited for Institutions, CCBC President Dr. Roger W. Davis was hesitant. However, after learning about the catalog of quality learning materials, ease of access and affordable price point, he realized that Cengage Unlimited would give the college a competitive advantage over other institutions.
Every faculty member at CCBC adopted Cengage Unlimited for Institutions in their classes, reducing learning material costs by 80% and ensuring that every student would get immediate access and show up for class prepared on day-one.
“I think the most exciting thing is that every student, regardless of their economic background or what’s happening at home, can start the first day of class with their textbook. It’s a win, and it puts everyone on an equal playing field.” — Dr. Roger W. Davis, CBCC President
