Yleisradio Oy (or the Finnish Broadcasting Company) is now streaming a brand new, six-part podcast series called The World’s Best Alexi Laiho. The podcast explores Laiho‘s insane guitar playing alongside his personal struggles that sadly ended in tragedy.
The World’s Best Alexi Laiho includes interviews with Laiho‘s bandmates, family, and friends, as well as Laiho‘s guitar idols like Kerry King, Steve Vai, and Zakk Wylde. The podcast was originally released in Finnish this past June, but has now received an English translation that you can find right here.
Children Of Bodom was founded by Laiho and drummer Jaska Raatikainen in 1993 as Inearthed. The band enjoyed quite a bit of success over the years, sadly ending in 2019 with one last show at the Icehall in Helsinki named A Chapter Called Children of Bodom.
Due to Raatikainen, bassist Henkka Seppälä, and keyboardist Janne Wirman owning the Children Of Bodom name, Laiho carried on as Bodom After Midnight with a new lineup. Laiho died in December 2020. According to the band’s remaining members, the final years of Children Of Bodom were difficult and involved a failed final tour and final album. You can read all about that right here.
