Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and current Pearl Jam touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer will be arraigned in California court for a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.
Klinghoffer‘s charge comes from an incident on March 18th, 2024, where he hit Israel Sanchez, a 47-year old pedestrian who was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. Sanchez was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
The guitarist’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, previously told TMZ that Klinghoffer was cooperating with authorities.
“This was a tragic accident. After Josh struck the pedestrian in the intersection, he immediately pulled over, called 911, and remained at the scene until police and paramedics arrived. He has fully cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation.”
Klinghoffer was sued by Sanchez‘s family in July for wrongful death and negligence.
