Whether you’re hiking, hitting the gym, running errands, getting primped for a special event or simply lounging at home, a good pair of shoes is key. Fortunately, there are tons of places to find sneakers, boots, slippers and shoes for a great discount around this time of year.
When it comes to Black Friday shoe sales, we tend to see athletic brands offering big discounts on their own sites while fashion footwear seems to get a better treatment via third-party shoe retailers like Zappos, DSW and even Amazon. So we’ve tried to capture the best of both worlds here in our guide to the best Black Friday shoe deals.
While we expect many of our favorite brands and retailers to drop Black Friday shoe deals similar to last year, there’s one important caveat to keep in mind. This year, Thanksgiving falls on Nov. 28; that’s as late as it can possibly be, which shortens the Black Friday-to-Christmas pipeline. For this reason, we’re expecting a lot of brands to launch their Black Friday sales much earlier, so keep your eyes peeled for any pre-Black Friday shoe sales that may kick off in early November!
We’ve rounded up the details of last year’s Black Friday footwear sales from our favorite brands, department stores and third-party shoe retailers — in alphabetical order, for your convenience — and are sharing our predictions and early sale details for the Black Friday shoe deals we’ll see this year.
We’ve got the inside scoop on the Dr. Martens Black Friday sale, and you won’t want to miss these savings from the beloved British footwear brand! From Nov. 22-29, you can save up to 40% off your next pair of Docs during the brand’s Black Friday Sale. Our friends at Dr. Martens are marking down hundreds of styles, including best-selling platform boots, oxford shoes and mules, along with select accessories like satchel bags and backpacks. You can find deals up to 40% off items for women, men and kids, so it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on holiday gifts while the Black Friday savings last.
Are we really surprised that Amazon offers some of the best Black Friday shoe deals? The e-commerce giant carries a slew of top shoe brands like Clarks, Anne Klein, Ugg, Brooks, Merrell, Salomon, Keds, Columbia, Timberland, Dr. Martens, New Balance, adidas, Naturalizer, Steve Madden, Dr. Scholl’s, Skechers and Dearfoams — just to name a few billion. It even has luxury brands like Giuseppe Zanotti and Bottega Veneta! While many of these brands hold Black Friday shoe sales on their own sites, the markdowns on Amazon can be significantly greater (often because they’re carrying older seasons’ styles), so always give Amazon a look, too. We saw upwards of 60% off last year and expect similar deals this November.
For a little shoe made of cork and suede, the classic Birkenstock clog is seeing a particularly fashionable resurgence these days. Last year, the Birkenstock site offered up to 30% off select styles — but you’ll probably find even deeper discounts on older styles and colorways if you opt for third-party sites like DICK’S Sporting Goods, Macy’s, Famous Footwear, DSW and Nordstrom Rack this Black Friday.
Last year, Crocs dropped prices as much as 60% off top styles, like the Classic Clog, the cozy Lined Clog and the more sporty Bayaband Clog. You can expect to see similar deals this year, especially on older colorways and more summer-y styles.
DSW ran its Black Friday sale from Nov. 17 to 24 last year, so we predict an early kickoff to the savings once again this fall. There were lots of ways to save, including a coupon code for 30% off sitewide, special deals up to 25% off rarely reduced shoe brands, “Deal of the (Holi)Day” specials starting at 50% off and a free weekender giveaway with $49+ purchase. Similar promos are in effect now, but they’ll only get better.
The lightweight and ultra-comfortable HOKA sneakers have made quite a name for themselves — and Black Friday is a great time to save up to 40% on them, based on last year’s sales. The fan-favorite Clifton, Rincon and Bondi running shoes, in particular, saw markdowns on their previous year’s models, so look out for deals on the Clifton 8, Rincon 3 and Bondi 7 in HOKA’s sale section, or from third-party retailers like DICK’S Sporting Goods, REI, Zappos and Nordstrom Rack.
Nike hosted an impressive Black Friday sale last year, with savings up to 60% off sitewide — and then it bumped up the deals on Cyber Monday with an additional 25% off select styles. We saw incredible shoe deals, including 56% off Air Force 1s and 44% off Air Jordans. There will likely be a coupon code in play to get the best deals this Black Friday, so take advantage of the free signup to become a Nike member.
Last year, the Nordstrom Black Friday sale dropped prices on designer footwear, like 43% off Sam Edelman loafers, 25% off Ugg slippers and 30% off Tory Burch ballet flats. The more budget-friendly Nordstrom Rack boasted even deeper discounts, and we can expect to see similar deals from both again this year.
The performance-ready On Cloud running shoes are good enough for Olympians and marathon runners — so they’re definitely good enough for us. However, they can get a little pricey if you don’t catch a sale like last year’s 40% off for Black Friday. Top styles like the On Cloudboom, On Cloudventure and On Cloudaway saw price drops during On’s own sale, which ran until the Tuesday after Black Friday. You could also catch On Cloud running shoe deals on sites like Zappos, Amazon and REI.
Reebok slashed shoe prices in half last Black Friday, including sporty running shoes like the Floatride Energy 5 and more laidback styles like the Club C Revenge. Keep an eye out for a coupon code for this year’s Black Friday sale, as that tends to be the route Reebok takes.
There’s no cozier way to gear up for winter than with a new pair of UGGs. From Koolaburra styles to classic mini boots, we saw the most significant UGG markdowns on Amazon, DSW and Nordstrom last year. This year, UGG has already announced that its own Black Friday and Cyber Monday shoe sale will run from Nov. 29 through Dec. 2. There are 30% off savings available on a variety of styles already.
Zappos dropped prices as low as 80% off top brands last Black Friday, including Dr. Martens, HOKA, Merrell, adidas, Calvin Klein, Sperry, Steve Madden, Franco Sarto, Coach and tons more. There are savings to be found on Zappos’ site now, but the discounts should get even deeper as we get closer to Black Friday.
