The Denver Broncos are pulling out all the tricks against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
After the Bills scored 10 unanswered in response to the Broncos’ opening-drive TD, Denver was forced to punt for a second time on a 4th-and-8 when Riley Dixon executed a perfect fake punt with a pass to WR Marvin Mims Jr. with the Broncos trailing 10-7 early in the second quarter.
While the Broncos were forced to punt for good a few plays later, Mims downed the ball at the 1-yard line, continuing his versatile first-half performance.
Mims was second on the team coming into Sunday with 503 receiving yards and six TDs.
Making their first postseason appearance since the 2015 season, the Broncos won five of their last seven games to make it to this point. According to the CBS broadcast, Nix is the first rookie QB in Broncos history to start a playoff game, which makes the future look extremely promising for Denver.
Future aside, the fake punt showed that the Broncos are not leaving anything on the table as they look to pull a huge road upset and keep their turnaround season going for at least another week.
