Border officials from across New England honored the life and service of Agent David Maland on Saturday during a procession in Vermont.
Maland was shot and killed in January during a traffic stop on I-91 in Coventry, Vermont.
People who worked with him said his death was not only a shock to the Vermont community but also felt across the country.

Maland’s partner, Agent Robert Wainwright, organized the procession and led a ceremony.
“Even in law enforcement community, we want to aspire to have the bravery that he had,” said Wainwright. “The integrity, the way that he composed himself and the way that he walked through life, being a complete servant to his community.”
Teresa Youngblut, 21, and another person face federal charges in connection with Maland’s death.
