Teen killed during TikTok prank in Virginia

A Virginia high school senior was shot and killed while filming an alleged prank for a social media trend on Saturday in a Fredericksburg, Virginia, neighborhood.The victim, 18-year-old Michael Bosworth Jr., was a student at Massaponax High School. His classmates are heartbroken as they prepare for graduation next week.”It’s been very emotional, honestly, because you know we graduate next week,” Khamoni Keys, a fellow student and a close friend of Bosworth, told WJLA. Another teenager at the scene was shot and survived. A third juvenile was not hurt. Authorities in Spotsylvania County arrested Tyler Chase Butler, 27, and charged him with second-degree murder and other offenses. Detectives reported that the initial 911 call was for an attempted home burglary, during which Butler, who resides at the home, opened fire.According to court documents, the two surviving juveniles told police they were playing a prank called “ding-dong-ditch,” which involves ringing doorbells and running away. They had done this at several homes and had been filming themselves to post on TikTok.Butler is in jail without bond. The two surviving victims were read their Miranda warnings, but neither has been charged at this time, authorities said.See more in the video player above.
