Adam Montgomery case: Scheduling conference Monday

MANCHESTER, N.H. —

Adam Montgomery will likely go back on trial next year on charges that he killed his daughter, Harmony.

Montgomery was convicted in 2024 of murdering his 5-year-old daughter, Harmony, but that conviction was overturned in June.

Montgomery did not appear in court for a hearing Monday, but attorneys for both sides said they were looking to schedule a trial date in October 2027.

The New Hampshire Supreme Court overturned Montgomery’s murder conviction in June after a judge ruled that Montgomery should have had separate trials for murder and assault charges.

Montgomery is serving a sentence of more than 30 years in prison on unrelated firearms charges.

Monday’s brief hearing was strictly about scheduling. Attorneys now have 30 days to get a proposed schedule with the October 2027 start date to the judge.

Kim Kossick, Montgomery’s defense attorney, spoke exclusively with News 9 and said Montgomery didn’t appear in court Monday because prisoners are typically not brought to court for short hearings.

She said she has met with Montgomery.

“I have spoken with him,” Kossick said. “We had a very pleasant conversation, and that’s about all I can tell you. I can’t tell you anything else.”

Harmony was last seen alive in December 2019, but her remains have never been found. State officials said they are continuing to search for Harmony and were at a location about 30 days ago.
