6th Annual Patchwork Play Festival Accepting Submissions

Eclectic Full Contact Theater Company is currently accepting submissions of New One-Act Plays that embody this years theme of: Alienation. Nine finalists will have their play produced in the Patchwork Play Festival at The Edge Theater, 5451 N Broadway, Chicago, IL. from Feb. 26, 2027 – March 7, 2027.

​Deadline for Patchwork Play Festival submissions is Oct. 31, 2026

A $250 Award will be presented for best production. (Adjudicated by a panel of Chicago Theater professionals. 
​A $250 Audience Award will also be presented to the festival favorite. (Determined by our audiences).

Patchwork Play Festival Submission Requirements:​

1. Play must be previously unproduced. (Staged Readings are fine)
2. Play length not to exceed 30 minutes.
3. Play must reflect the yearly theme.  This years theme is: Alienation
4. Play must be received by October 31, 2026
5. Playwrights cannot submit more than 2 scripts per year for Patchwork.  If more than 2 scripts are submitted by the same playwright, 2 will be picked at random. Only one play per playwright may be featured per Patchwork Play Festival per season.
6. Scripts cannot contain copyrighted music unless the playwright owns the music’s copyright, or has written permission from the music’s copyright owner.
7. They are not accepting musicals at this time.

Eclectic Full Contact Theatre’s Mission

Eclectic Full Contact Theatre was formed in 2011 with a dual purpose:

Bring visceral and engaging entertainment to a wide-ranging and diverse audience irrespective of style, subject, medium, or period. (“Eclectic”)
Foster a greater connection to, and understanding of, theatre in our audiences through providing them access to the behind-the-scenes workings of putting on a show through both in-person (attending read-thrus and specific rehearsals) and online (videos/photos of rehearsals as well as construction and tech) means (“Full Contact”)

Since its inception, EFCT has expanded on those two driving forces, increasing the scope of its productions through festivals highlighting not only standard one-act plays, but also live Foley and Theatre for Young Audiences as well as developing an entire audio production wing with two currently running audio drama podcasts. We have sought to expand the scope of our offerings by actively seeking out and developing relationships with women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ writers, directors, designers, and actors.
