Nick Made Fans Vomit, Victoria Said Hold My Beer

I’ve called Nick Newman gross before, & I meant it.

Back when Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was sleeping with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) while she was pregnant & didn’t know if the baby was his or his own brother Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman), I said it plainly: Nick Newman is gross. & now, with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) sleeping with her daughter’s ex-boyfriend on Young & the Restless, it’s worth asking which Newman sibling actually wins the title.

This isn’t just any two characters, either. Adam’s mother is the late Hope Adams, & Abby’s mother is Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Victoria & Nick are the only two of Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) & Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) kids who share both parents. Of the true, full-blooded Newmans on Young & the Restless, one of them is currently more disgusting than the other.

Nick & Sally: A Mess With Actual DNA Confusion

Let’s revisit what happened here, because it’s worse than people remember. Sally was pregnant, uncertain whether Nick or Adam had fathered her baby, & Nick kept right on sleeping with her anyway. That’s not two brothers dating the same woman at different points in time; that’s two brothers tangled up in the same pregnancy at the same time. Add in the fact that Faith Newman is currently walking around with one of Adam’s kidneys, & you’ve got a family that’s already medically fused together before you even get to the romantic mess. Nick & Sally’s history isn’t just messy; it’s biologically complicated.

Victoria & Kyle: A Different Kind of Wrong

Now compare that to Victoria Newman sleeping with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), her own daughter Claire Newman’s (Hayley Erin) ex who took her virginity. There’s no pregnancy confusion here, no shared DNA, no kidney donations tying anyone together. What there is instead is a generational line being crossed.. Victoria isn’t a peer competing with Claire the way Nick competed with Adam. She’s the mother, & mothers aren’t supposed to be in the running for their daughter’s exes.

So Which True Newman Actually Wins?

Nick has the messier facts on paper: uncertain paternity, a literal kidney connection, & a triangle that played out in real time instead of sequentially. Now Victoria has crossed a line Nick never touched: the line between generations. Sibling rivalry over an ex is baked into this show’s entire history; Nick & Adam proved that more than once. A parent sleeping with their kid’s ex is a newer, stranger kind of wrong, & Victoria’s the one who went there.

Both are gross. Only one of them broke new ground.

Nick made fans vomit, & Victoria said, “Hold my beer.” Which true Newman actually wins messiest? Vote in the replies; I need to know I’m not the only one keeping score.

Let me know what other gaps you spot — happy to keep iterating.
