LACONIA, N.H. —
The arraignments of two men accused of being involved in a fire at Kimball Castle have been delayed.
Peyton Eastman, 19, and Joshua Pittman, 18, were indicted by a Belknap County grand jury last month.
The indictment said Eastman knowingly started a fire at the historic Kimball Castle in Gilford in August 2025. Pittman is accused of helping the fire grow.
Eastman and Pittman were originally scheduled to be arraigned at Laconia District Court Thursday morning. Eastman was there in person, but Pittman was not.
While Eastman’s arraignment was happening, the deputy county attorney stepped in to say the case was upgraded to Belknap Superior Court.
Pittman is now scheduled to be arraigned Friday, while Eastman will be arraigned Oct. 15.
Kimball Castle was built in the late 1890s and was on the National Register of Historic Places.
