The Baltimore Ravens have been flying without their pilot in the form of quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been out since suffering a left ankle sprain in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans.
Jackson missed the team’s Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons, a 30-23 overtime win, as backup Tyler Huntley filled in.
The Ravens have a Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, and it’s an important one. The Ravens are No. 1 in the AFC North, but the Browns are right behind them at No. 2 with a 3-2 record.
On Wednesday, ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter shared an update about Jackson.
“Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has a realistic chance to return for Sunday’s game at Cleveland, per league source,” he shared on X.
This echoes what Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said on Monday when asked about Jackson’s ankle. At the time, Minter said that he didn’t know if Jackson would participate on Wednesday when the Ravens resumed practice, but that he was improving.
“He’s definitely doing better. Wednesday, I’m not sure about exactly how that practice will look,” Minter said, according to the team’s official website. “To Lamar’s credit, he’s doing everything he can to get back out there. I think we’ll know more by the middle of the week.”
Having Jackson back would be huge for the Ravens. Even though the Browns were something of a joke last season, that’s really turned around, and they’ve become a real contender in the AFC North.
