Kim Kardashian went through a health scare that required surgery — and reminded her of her late father Robert Kardashian‘s death.
“I’ve been feeling a little off lately. My throat is, like, killing me today,” Kim, 46, said during the Thursday, October 29, episode of The Kardashians.
The reality star spoke with a doctor, who said, “I think you have a little bit of inflammation of the esophagus, and I think you have esophagitis. I would suggest starting a medication, then come for a procedure where we could look at it and we can determine what we’re dealing with and if we really need to do anything or not.”
In a confessional, Kim addressed her decision to keep her issues a secret.
“I haven’t really told too many people about this just because I think it’s something that really hits home for me,” she explained. “And I just don’t really want to go there with my dad having passed away from esophagus cancer [at age 59 in 2003].”
She continued: “Hopefully I can just take medication and this will go away. But I just don’t know what’s gonna happen.”
The preview for the next episode of the show confirmed Kim went under the knife due to “irregularities” that had to be “cut out” for her own safety.
Kim has often used her family’s Hulu series to document her health challenges. In a November 2025 episode, she shared how a complete body scan had raised some red flags about her wellness.
“They called me today and they’re like, ‘Everything looks great, but you have an aneurysm in your brain,’” she revealed to sister Kourtney Kardashian. “They’re like, ‘It’s been there for years.’”
Kim tried to be proactive about the issue.
“I called Keith Black — the brain surgeon. I sent him a picture of my scan and he was like, ‘I want you to come in for all this imaging,’” she continued. “Then I asked, ‘Can I wait? What makes it rupture?’ And they’re like, ‘Just stress.’”
The reality star concluded: “I’m like, ‘OK, I’m taking the bar exam and I’m studying 10 hours a day.’ The stress has been next level to the point of hives.”
