Slayer<\/a><\/strong> has three reunion shows coming up this September and October at the Riot Fest, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock festivals. And you better go see ’em at one of those festivals, because Slayer<\/a><\/strong> isn’t making this a yearly thing.<\/p>\n In an interview with Classic Rock History<\/a><\/em>, Slayer<\/a><\/strong> guitarist Kerry King<\/a><\/strong> said it’ll be good to see his former bandmates, but notes that these reunion shows will be few and far between.<\/p>\n “It’s not really much different at all,” said King<\/a><\/strong>. “It’s the same heads, same cabs, same pedals, same guitars. You know, there will be a lot of fire when Slayer<\/a><\/strong> plays, and I think, yeah, those shows will just be fun. It’ll be fun to play with Gary Holt<\/strong> for a few gigs; I haven’t seen him in almost five years, so that will be cool. And it’ll be cool to get together with Tom Araya<\/strong> and spit some hate out at people, but don’t get used to this being a yearly event.”<\/p>\n King<\/a><\/strong> previously tamped down expectation of any tours or a new Slayer<\/a><\/strong> album in an interview with Metal Hammer<\/em>, noting: “It’s not going to translate into recording, and it’s not going to translate into touring. For me, it’s three shows marking five years since our final shows, a fun, ‘Hey, remember us from before the pandemic?’ celebration.”<\/p>\n And really, isn’t having a few Slayer<\/a><\/strong> shows here and there more special than a reunion tour that hits your state maybe twice per year? Maybe Misfits<\/a><\/strong> got it right \u2013 make a huge spectacle out of every single reunion show, go quiet for a little, rinse and repeat. Which especially works for Slayer<\/a><\/strong>‘s Kerry King<\/a><\/strong>, now that he’s got his own solo career cooking.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
