Jean-Pierre Torrell, O.P.\u2019s definitive
\nscholarly biography of St. Thomas Aquinas has recently received its
\nthird edition. Translator Matthew Minerd returns to the Catholic
\nCulture Podcast to discuss what we can learn from Fr. Torrell about
\nthe life of St. Thomas and the context in which works like the
\nSumma theologiae<\/em> were
\nwritten.<\/p>\n

This episode is a deep dive into Thomas\u2019s
\nvocation in a number of senses \u2013 his Benedictine formation and
\neventual decision to become a Dominican instead, his intellectual
\nformation as a student of St. Albert the Great and eventual
\nBachelor of the Sentences, and his duties in teaching, writing,
\ndisputation and preaching as a Master of the Sacred Pages at the
\nUniversity of Paris and elsewhere. Looking into these things can
\nteach us much about Thomas\u2019s spirituality, his working methods, and
