Not just because they require some extra search terms to find their history, but because <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/candy\">Candy<\/a><\/strong> <\/strong>kicks in the cracks of basic hardcore beats makes way for new additions like \u201880s action-movie synth scores and whips of hypercore.<\/p>\n<p>Their third record <em>It\u2019s Inside You<\/em>, via Relapse Records<strong> <\/strong>and Co-produced by Quick and Uniform\u2019s Ben Greenberg, is twelve energetic, digital-coated songs with features from <strong>Integrity<\/strong>\u2019s<strong> Aaron Melnick<\/strong>, <strong>Angel Du$t<\/strong>\u2019s<strong> Justice Tripp<\/strong>, and <strong>Trash Talk\u2019<\/strong>s <strong>David Gagliardi<\/strong>. It starts off with \u201ceXistenZ\u201d and just from the title&#8217;s spelling, I know this is going to take a turn from the raw intensity of grittier previous 2022 record <em>Heaven is Here<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"CANDY - eXistenZ (Official Audio)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nCvOdlfL308?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Immediately we hear a synth intro reminiscent of running through a cyberpunk city, combat drugs ripping through your veins. The song as whole is upbeat and melodic and the lyrics are futuristic in their own style with outro drums folding over into \u201cShort-Circuit\u201d and just as I start to think they\u2019re sitting back into an older sound again, the synth picks back up for <strong>Justice<\/strong>\u2019s feature. \u201cIt\u2019s Inside You\u201d delivers record scratches in the background and violently tosses me back into 2000s nu metal and \u201cLove Like Snow\u201d sounds like a song that never made it onto <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/turnstile\">Turnstile<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s <em>GLOW ON<\/em>. That\u2019s the beauty of <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/candy\">Candy<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>, they\u2019ve got a heavy grip on the ability to incorporate experimental and guitar pop bands like <strong>Physical TV<\/strong> and <strong>The Stone Roses<\/strong> with brisk, tough drums. Sculpting these songs with clay from wildly different genres introduce hardcore listeners to soundscapes they would likely never venture into on their own.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDehumanize Me\u201d brings back the simplicity of an angry hardcore song that I love, giving politically-driven shouts of \u201cMechanical warfare!\u201d while \u201cFaith 91\u201d brings in echoing \u201cbleghs\u201d , techy guitar slides and another moment of inspiration: \u201cThe faith is strong within myself\u201d. \u201cTerror Management\u201d is the third song in the album\u2019s cadence switch from a video game\u2019s dream sequence to a nightmare fighting match. Rather than hurling listeners onto an unpredictable rollercoaster of emotions, each song is strategically placed and they\u2019ve built up to this section flawlessly. \u201cDreams Less Sweet\u201d and \u201cSilent Collapse\u201d have similar chugging and although a smidge less aggressive, not any less powerful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"CANDY - Love Like Snow (featuring MIRSY &amp; mmph) (Official Music Video)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RTN1PXS0Zp0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s after \u201cSilent Collapse\u201d where I have to check I haven\u2019t accidentally switched to my 2008 Myspace playlist as the blown-out speaker static sound of hypercore truly takes over. Speed increasing, <strong>Zak Quiram<\/strong>\u2019s vocals pivot in and out of each ear and I start to think about how many mainstream bands have started making moves with cyber soundscapes (Bring Me The Horizon\u2019s latest release comes to mind) as \u201cHypercore\u201d assaults me. Even after a few listens I\u2019m not sure how to feel about these last two.<\/p>\n<p>The long forgotten thoughts of my Livejournal and neon pants start to bubble up but before the horrifying <strong>Brokencyde<\/strong> alarms take hold, I find solace in the discomfort. It\u2019s a signal that <em>It\u2019s Inside You<\/em> is exactly what <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/candy\">Candy<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> is shooting for, refreshingly novel and distinct.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/reviews\/album-review-candy-its-inside-you\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Candy: a hardcore band that seem to explore being different from traditional hardcore without abandoning the bones of it.
