Christina Applegate<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about her mental health.<\/p>\n

On the Tuesday, June 18, episode of her \u201cMeSsy\u201d podcast with Jamie-Lynn Sigler<\/strong>, Applegate addressed public concern over recent comments she made that she doesn\u2019t \u201cenjoy living\u201d<\/a> amid her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t enjoy living,\u201d Applegate, 52, said on the June 4 episode of the podcast, which was recorded in early 2024. \u201cI don\u2019t enjoy it. I don\u2019t enjoy things anymore,\u201d she continued, adding that due to her chronic illness, \u201cif someone\u2019s like, \u2018Let\u2019s get up and go for a walk.\u2019 Or, \u2018Let\u2019s go get a coffee,\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018I don\u2019t enjoy that process.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday\u2019s podcast, the Dead to Me<\/em> star said she received text messages from people expressing concern for her well-being after the comments began circulating online.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsk me how I am, Jamie,\u201d Applegate told Sigler at the start of the episode. \u201cOh my god, you guys, I\u2019m so good. Isn\u2019t that what everyone wants to hear? I\u2019m good. Does that take a little bit of the pressure off of all of you? I\u2019m good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was talking about some dark stuff I was thinking and feeling\u2026 this is our safe place to get those things out because when we hold things in, we give them power,\u201d she explained. \u201cI also think there\u2019s so much shame that people feel when they\u2019re going through mental health issues. It\u2019s a moment. It\u2019s a thought. It\u2019s a feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI think that it\u2019s incredibly healing and important to be able to express the thoughts, whether that makes someone uncomfortable or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applegate clarified that she\u2019s \u201cnot sitting here on suicide watch,\u201d but admitted to sometimes experiencing \u201cdark thoughts\u201d because of her chronic illness.<\/p>\n

\u201cI dare anyone to be diagnosed with MS or any chronic illness that has taken who you were prior to that moment and go, \u2018This is great,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cYou have moments of feeling like, \u2018This is tiring and I don\u2019t want to do this,\u2019 but you do it. By saying this s\u2013t out loud it releases the pressure in the balloon, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
