Vola<\/a><\/strong> has announced their new studio album, Friend of a Phantom<\/em>, slated for release on November 1st through Mascot Records.<\/p>\n The album opens with “Cannibal,” featuring vocals by Anders Frid\u00e9n<\/strong> of In Flames<\/a><\/strong>. This track sets the tone for an album journey that moves from the hypnotically ethereal “We Will Not Disband” to “Hollow Kid.” Bassist Nicolai Mogensen <\/strong>describes his creative process for “Hollow Kid”: “I wanted to blend the essence of Metallica<\/a><\/strong>‘s ‘Enter Sandman’ with the low tuning and polyrhythms of Meshuggah<\/a><\/strong>. The song’s intro riff was the result, and it inspired the rest of the track.”<\/p>\n Talking about their evolution, drummer Adam<\/strong>\u00a0Janzi<\/strong> says: “We have had the time to internalize Witness<\/em> and let its aftermath sink in, which has shaped how we approached Friend Of A Phantom<\/em>. Our personal tastes have changed, the way we approach our instruments and songwriting has changed, our lives have changed, time has passed, and adventures have been had. Whatever piece of melancholy that Witness<\/em> had, has just grown and become a central part of this new album. I feel that Vola<\/a><\/strong> has grown and reached a new moment in its life, maturing.”<\/p>\n Accompanying the album announcement is the release of the music video for “Break My Lying Tongue.” This song highlights Vola<\/a><\/strong>‘s signature style, merging introspective lyrics with complex soundscapes.
