Legendary record producer Peter Collins<\/strong> \u2013 the man responsible for classics from bands like Rush<\/a><\/strong>, Queensr\u00ffche<\/a><\/strong>, Alice Cooper<\/a><\/strong>, and more \u2013 has sadly died at 73 years old.<\/p>\n Rush<\/a><\/strong> posted of Collins<\/strong>‘ passing on their Instagram page, saying: “Peter Collins<\/strong> was our beloved producer for 4 albums. First on Power Windows<\/em> (’85),then Hold Your Fire<\/em> (’87),Counterparts<\/em> (’93) and Test For Echo<\/em> (’96). We loved seeing him in Nashville when we came through on tour. He had a mischievous, beaming smile and great sense of humour. He will be so missed\u2026. RIP Mr. Big<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n Rush<\/a><\/strong> bassist and vocalist Geddy<\/strong> Lee<\/strong> added: “So sad to hear of the passing of Peter Collins<\/strong>. A dear, dear friend and producer of 4 different Rush<\/a><\/strong> albums. During periods in the 80’s and 90’s we had some incredible musical adventures together, in various studios across the globe. He truly was our Mr. Big<\/strong>\u2026 with his ever present cigar and constant good humour. After hitting the record button, I can still hear him say ‘OK boys, from the topping \u2026 no stopping!’<\/p>\n “We love ya B<\/strong>, rest in peace and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”<\/p>\n Rush<\/a><\/strong> guitarist Alex Lifeson<\/strong> added: “Peter Collins<\/strong> will forever live in my memory as Mr. Big<\/strong>, sitting at his control centre beside a recording console with his ubiquitous tools: a legal pad, an ashtray and a Monte Cristo No. 2.<\/p>\n “Love you B. Farewell.”<\/p>\n Fellow master of progressive rock Dream Theater<\/a><\/strong> drummer Mike Portnoy<\/strong> added: ” Sad to hear of the passing of legendary Producer Peter Collins<\/strong>. I had the honor of working with Peter<\/strong> making the first Flying Colors<\/strong> album back in 2011. He also Produced such classic albums as Rush<\/a><\/strong>‘s Power Windows<\/em> & Counterparts<\/em> and Queensr\u00ffche<\/a><\/strong>‘s Operation: Mindcrime<\/em> & Empire<\/em> among so many others\u2026He was an absolute pleasure to work with and gave us so many great memories and hilarious expressions & quotes that we still reference to this day\u2026(that is his voice that kicks off the 1st FC album ‘standby studio and good luck’) #RIPPeterCollins”.<\/p>\n
