In a recent interview with Brazilian music journalist Igor Miranda<\/strong>, guitarist Zakk Wylde<\/strong> discussed the potential future endeavors of Pantera<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s current lineup. Addressing Charlie Benante<\/strong>‘s remarks about a possible live album<\/a>, Wylde<\/strong>, emphasized a relaxed approach: “Yeah, whatever the fellas wanna do, we knock it out. Let’s be real \u2014 it’s a live album every night. People with their phones and everything are recording it anyway, so it doesn’t matter to me. You go up there and you play to win every night.”<\/p>\n Obviously, the real elephant in the room is the possibility of this line-up writing new material. However, Wylde<\/strong> clarified that there have been no discussions about writing new songs. Instead, the focus remains on refining their live performances and integrating new tracks into their sets, such as the addition of \u201cFloods\u201d in recent rehearsals.<\/p>\n “No, we haven’t sat and talked about, like, ‘Oh, guys, let’s get together and write songs,’ or whatnot; there hasn’t been anything like that. I mean, the only discussions we’ll have are just what other new songs we wanna put in the setlist. Like when we put\u00a0\u2018Floods\u2019\u00a0in and then we got together at rehearsals, got together over at\u00a0Phil<\/strong>‘s house, we just rehearsed everything. But no, nothing like\u2026 We haven’t been sitting around writing riffs and things like that.”<\/p>\n When asked about the nature of their collaboration and whether it resembles a tribute, Wylde<\/strong> offered a different perspective: “Yeah, that’s what I feel it is. It’s not even a tribute. It’s more just a\u00a0Pantera<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0celebration. Like whenever we go out and do the\u00a0‘Experience Hendrix<\/strong>‘\u00a0 tours, which I always have a blast when I do, it’s all of us going out and celebrating\u00a0Jimi’s greatness. To me, this is a Pantera<\/a><\/strong> celebration. We’re celebrating all the mountains that\u00a0Pantera\u00a0conquered. So that’s what this is.”<\/p>\n Touching upon his approach to playing the late Dimebag Darrell<\/strong>‘s guitar parts \u2013 which he doesn\u2019t reproduce note by note \u2013 Wylde<\/strong> expressed reverence for each guitarist\u2019s distinctive tone, drawing a comparison with Randy Rhoads<\/strong> and expressing his admiration for Dime<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0“Oh, yeah, even if\u00a0Dime<\/strong>\u00a0was up there playing the solo to\u00a0‘No More Tears’\u00a0or\u00a0‘Mama I’m Coming Home’, it’s gonna sound like\u00a0Dime<\/strong>\u00a0playing the solo to\u00a0‘No More Tears’. ‘Cause he has his touch and his feels. Like when\u00a0Randy Rhoads<\/strong>\u00a0was playing\u00a0Black Sabbath<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0songs, it sounded like\u00a0Randy Rh<\/strong>oads\u00a0playing\u00a0Black Sabbath<\/a> <\/strong>songs. You listen to the\u00a0Tribute\u00a0album from\u00a0Ozzy Osbourne<\/a><\/strong>, when\u00a0Saint Rhoads<\/strong>\u00a0was playing\u00a0‘Iron Man’\u00a0and he was playing\u00a0‘Paranoid’\u00a0and\u00a0‘Children Of The Grave’, it sounds like\u00a0Randy\u00a0<\/strong>playing\u00a0Black Sabbath<\/a><\/strong> <\/strong>songs. It’s\u00a0Randy<\/strong>‘s guitar tone and\u00a0Randy<\/strong>‘s touch and\u00a0Randy<\/strong>‘s playing. But that’s what makes it cool. Yeah, to me, it’s just common sense.\u00a0Dime<\/strong>\u00a0just sounds like\u00a0Dime<\/strong>\u00a0no matter what he’s playing.”<\/p>\n \n
