Drift Into Black<\/a><\/strong> have always delivered top-notch gothic\/doom\/prog metal, emphasizing an original foundation amidst incorporating flavors of Paradise<\/strong> Lost<\/strong><\/a>, My Dying Bride<\/a><\/strong>, Candlemass<\/a><\/strong>, and Ghost<\/a><\/strong>. That they\u2019ve released six LPs in as many years (starting with 2018\u2019s Dead Suns Under the Forever Moon<\/em>) makes their consistency even more remarkable, and Voices Beneath the Rubble<\/em> only bolsters that distinction. Very much following in the footsteps of 2022\u2019s Earthtorn<\/em>, its lack of growls and emphasis on symphonic elements results in their gentlest and most pleasingly cinematic outing yet.<\/p>\n Another conceptual venture (although its narrative\/themes haven\u2019t been revealed), Voices Beneath the Rubble<\/em> sees the trio \u2013 vocalist\/multi-instrumentalist Craig Rossi<\/strong>, bassist Paul LaPlaca<\/strong>, and drummer Klemen Markelj<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cevolve[ing]<\/a> as musicians and storytellers\u201d to create \u201ctheir most immersive album to date.\u201d No matter what it\u2019s actually about, the record flows exquisitely and indeed taps into a wide range of emotions and styles.<\/p>\n \n
