{"id":229945,"date":"2024-08-15T18:16:19","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T18:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newhampshiredigitalnews.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/15\/nyse-american-axes-bid-for-spot-bitcoin-etf-options\/"},"modified":"2024-08-15T18:16:19","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T18:16:19","slug":"nyse-american-axes-bid-for-spot-bitcoin-etf-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newhampshiredigitalnews.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/15\/nyse-american-axes-bid-for-spot-bitcoin-etf-options\/","title":{"rendered":"NYSE American axes bid for spot Bitcoin ETF options"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/app\/uploads\/2024\/02\/crypto-news-Bitcoin-ETF-option09.webp\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"is-style-lead\">NYSE American LLC withdrew its regulatory rule change proposal, which sought permission to list spot Bitcoin ETF options.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the national exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/files\/rules\/sro\/nyseamer\/2024\/34-100726.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">applied<\/a> for options of the Bitwise Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/price\/bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BTC<\/a>) exchange-traded fund and Grayscale\u2019s converted BTC ETF. <\/p>\n<p>NYSE American also proposed options on spot Ethereum (<a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/price\/ethereum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ETH<\/a>) ETFs offered by the two issuers, as did BlackRock for its fund.<\/p>\n<p>After filing for rule changes to list and trade spot BTC ETF options on July 19, NYSE American withdrew its application on Aug. 9. The terminated proposal was formalized on Aug. 14 and disclosed on Aug. 15, per the Commission\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>Cboe axed its spot Bitcoin ETF options bid as well last week but promptly re-submitted its application. Cboe\u2019s action may indicate ongoing dialogue and feedback from the SEC.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bitcoin ETF options likely in Q4<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, less than two weeks ago, other platforms like BOX Exchange and MIAX Pearl withdrew options proposals for rule changes related to spot Bitcoin ETFs.<\/p>\n<p>On several occasions, the SEC has <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/bitcoin-etf-options-sec\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delayed<\/a> a decision on filings from Cboe, Nasdaq, and other exchanges, much to the frustration of investors and issuers alike.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pro-crypto ETF voices, such as former Grayscale CEO Michael Sonnenshein, have <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/grayscale-bitcoin-etf-options\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">urged<\/a> the Commission to approve options. Sonnenshein argued that the feature would grant investors a bevy of portfolio options.<\/p>\n<p>ETF expert James Seyffart surmised that spot BTC ETF options would go live during this year\u2019s fourth quarter.
