Well, that or we&#8217;re about to get some seriously death metal flute.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zox-post-ad-wrap\">\n<div class=\"zox-post-ad\">\n<div class=\"zox-post-ad-versus\">\n<p><versus-widget x-type=\"inline\" x-id=\"7531ec27-8a79-4b18-a301-e7e5c3355ed2\">Please enable Javascript to view this content<\/versus-widget><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to <strong>Anderson<\/strong> in an interview with the <em>Mystery Tour<\/em> radio show: &#8220;Well, from time to time I play on other people&#8217;s records, if they&#8217;re interesting to me. I just did \u2014 last week I played on three or four tracks from a prog metal band called [<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/opeth\">Opeth<\/a><\/strong>].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re thinking that might be a stretch, it&#8217;s clearly been on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/opeth\">Opeth<\/a><\/strong> mastermind <strong>Mikael \u00c5kerfeldt<\/strong>&#8216;s to-do list for a while. <em>Blabbermouth<\/em> points out that <strong>\u00c5kerfeldt<\/strong> mentioned in a <em>Prog<\/em> interview that he originally asked <strong>Anderson<\/strong> to play on <em>Heritage<\/em> way back in 2011, but the two never got together.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I did e-mail <strong>Ian Anderson<\/strong> but I never heard back from him,&#8221; he said at the time. &#8220;Funnily enough, when I went down to <strong>Steven<\/strong>&#8216;s [<strong>Wilson<\/strong>] place to mix the album, we&#8217;re sitting on his couch and he says, &#8216;Oh, I just got an e-mail from <strong>Ian Anderson<\/strong>,&#8217; and I was, like, &#8216;What?!&#8217; And he just said, &#8216;He just wants me to look into [remixing <strong>Jethro Tull<\/strong>&#8216;s 1971 record] <em>Aqualung<\/em>. I&#8217;m really happy in retrospect that we have [<strong>Bj\u00f6rn J:son Lindh<\/strong>] because it fits with the vibe of the record.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No word on when we can expect the new <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/opeth\">Opeth<\/a><\/strong> record. Outside of <strong>Anderson<\/strong>&#8216;s appearance, it&#8217;ll also be <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/opeth\">Opeth<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s first with drummer <strong>Waltteri V\u00e4yrynen<\/strong>, who replaced longtime drummer <strong>Martin Axenrot<\/strong> in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"zox-post-body left zoxrel zox100\">\n<h5>Want More Metal?
