Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> is having a really, really interesting 2024. The band recently announced they’d embark on one final world tour before calling it quits<\/a>, but not before undergoing a major lineup change. Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> has just announced that longtime drummer Eloy Casagrande<\/strong> has left the band and will be replaced by Greyson Nekrutman<\/strong> (Suicidal Tendencies<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n “Welcome Greyson Nekrutman<\/strong> to Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> who replaces Eloy Casagrande<\/strong> who has decided to leave Sepultura<\/a><\/strong>,” wrote the band. “Greyson<\/strong>‘s first shows with us starts March 1 as we kick off the Celebrating Life Through Death Farewell Tour.”<\/p>\n Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> elaborated on the situation, saying that Casagrande<\/strong> left the band to pursue “another project.” On a completely editorial note, anyone else get the feeling that maybe Slipknot<\/a><\/strong> is about to announce a new drummer? Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> also notes in their statement that they were “taken by surprise,” and go on to say that Casagrande<\/strong> “abandon everything related to Sepultura<\/a><\/strong>.” So maybe not the friendliest split.<\/p>\n Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> wrote in their statement: “The Celebrating Life Through Death tour, a farewell tour over the next 18 months that will celebrate the band’s 40th<\/sup> anniversary and also its farewell to the stage.<\/p>\n “Beginning of December the group clearly defined the intention at the announcement, it is a ‘conscious and planned death.’ As poetic as it sounds, a tour of this magnitude took nearly of year of preparing and planning which would require a lot commitment, ethics and loyalty to their fans, as well as respecting for the band’s history \u2013 something that is a clear priority to Andreas Kisser<\/strong>, Derrick Green<\/strong> and Paulo Xisto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “However, on February 6th<\/sup> a few days prior to the first rehearsal, drummer Eloy Casagrande<\/strong> informed the band that he was leaving Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> to pursue a career in another project. The band were taken by surprise, without prior warning, he immediately left the band, abandoning everything related to Sepultura<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n “Luckily american virtuoso Greyson Nekrutman<\/strong> will take the postion of Eloy Casagrande<\/strong> and is welcomed as the band’s new drummer for the Celebrating Life Through Death farewell tour.<\/p>\n Greyson<\/strong> comments: “Today I express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible opportunity to join the legendary ranks of Sepultura<\/a><\/strong> for their farewell tour.<\/p>\n “To contribute to this legacy is a privilege that fills me with both honor and excitement. Sepultura<\/a><\/strong>‘s fearless approach to exploring new territories in the metal sphere is something that i have always admired and strived to emulate in my own musical endeavors. I am eagerly looking forward to adding my own spirit and passion to the mix, to connecting with the fans who have supported the band through its evolution, and to the electrifying experiences we’ll create together on stage.
