Allison Holker<\/strong><\/a> paid tribute to her late husband, Stephen \u201ctWitch\u201d Boss<\/a>, during the season 18 premiere of So You Think You Can Dance<\/em><\/a> on Monday, March 4.<\/p>\n

\u201cStephen \u2018tWitch\u2019 Boss was and will forever be an icon [and] a legend because he was truly the best at what he did,\u201d Holker, 36, tearfully said during the first round of auditions.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u201cBut also because he brought out the best in everyone around him.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cTo this day, for me, my children and everyone here, he\u2019s still doing that. And how we honor him is by giving that life back because that\u2019s what he would want too.\u201d<\/p>\n

So You Think You Can Dance <\/i>then flashed a montage of Boss\u2019 memorable moments on the show. The episode was closed out with a title card that read, \u201cStephen \u2018tWitch\u2019 Boss 1982-2022,\u201d alongside a portrait of him.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHonoring a lost love. Allison Holker has often paid tribute to her late husband, Stephen \u201ctWitch\u201d Boss, following his death in December 2022. \u201cTo my husband, best friend, babe, Chee-chalker, Superman and father of my children I LOVE YOU FOREVER and ALWAYS!\u201d Holker wrote via Instagram in January 2023 alongside a slideshow of images from [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Fox reality competition series \u2014 of which Holker joined the judging panel<\/a> for season 18 \u2014 held a special significance for her and Boss. The pair met during season 2 in 2006, when she was a contestant on the show and he was working as a choreographer. They became a couple after reconnecting during season 7 in 2010 when she returned as an All-Star. He later served as a judge on the show for seasons 15 and 17.<\/p>\n

Holker and Boss tied the knot in December 2013 and later welcomed son Maddox and daughter Zaia in March 2016 and November 2019, respectively. Boss also adopted Holker\u2019s daughter from a previous relationship, Weslie.<\/p>\n

Shortly after celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary, news broke in December 2022 that Boss was found dead<\/a> at a Los Angeles hotel. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later confirmed that he died by suicide<\/a>. He was 40 years old.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,\u201d Holker said in a statement to People<\/em> at the time. \u201cStephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holker went on to emphasize that Boss\u2019 influence on their family and others would not be forgotten. \u201cTo say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,\u201d she added. \u201cI am certain there won\u2019t be a day that goes by that we won\u2019t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded: \u201cStephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Months later, Holker gave her first televised interview<\/a> since Boss\u2019 death. \u201cI still feel like the rest of the world where I\u2019m still shocked,\u201d she said on the Today<\/em> show in May 2023. \u201cNo one\u2019s ready for that moment and there\u2019s no one that saw this coming. No one \u2014 and that breaks my heart too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holker acknowledged that she was \u201cso sad\u201d no one realized Boss was suffering and revealed that she had to come to terms with the fact that she could not \u201cchange anything that\u2019s happened\u201d despite wondering whether she \u201cmissed\u201d some clue to his mental state prior to his death.<\/p>\n
