The topic of new Pantera<\/a><\/strong> material has been up for debate lately, though it seems Metal Injection<\/em> readers are largely into the idea<\/a>. New Pantera<\/a><\/strong> most recently came up during an interview with Zakk Wylde<\/strong>, who said he’d be down to do it under a different band name. Now Pantera<\/a><\/strong> bassist Rex Brown<\/strong> has weighed in with a very strange, interesting answer.<\/p>\n In an interview with AndrewHaug.com<\/em>, Brown<\/strong> was asked if he’d be down to write new material with Pantera<\/a><\/strong>. He responded: “Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I could tell you more but I’m not going to.” Of course the implication there being that there’s more to say on the topic than Brown<\/strong> is willing to reveal. So who knows \u2013 maybe new Pantera<\/a><\/strong> is already in the works? That, or Brown<\/strong> is just having some fun with everyone.<\/p>\n Wylde<\/strong> had previously spoken on the same topic with Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk<\/em>, saying: “I think you would have to call [Pantera<\/a><\/strong>] something else [if new material were to be written]. You know what I mean? Pantera<\/a><\/strong> is those four guys. So, yeah, you can’t replace that.”<\/p>\n He added: “Yeah. If that was ever a bridge we crossed, we’d have to wait until we get there. But right now, it’s just the four of us celebrating what [the classic Pantera<\/a><\/strong>] created.”<\/p>\n Brown<\/strong> also touched on touring as Pantera<\/a><\/strong> without Dimebag<\/strong> and Vinnie Paul<\/strong>: “I call it Pantera. The show itself is a celebration of the lives of all four of us. Two are sadly not with us, and we cannot bring them back. God, do I want them back. But that’s just not possible.<\/p>\n “So we’re doing the best thing that we can to keep our music alive. And I think they’re smiling down and saying, ‘You guys are doing all right, man.’ And they’re with us. And I’m not shittin’ you.”<\/p>\n As for Pantera<\/a><\/strong> live show, there could be a live album coming at some point. Or at least Pantera<\/a><\/strong> has been recording all their shows, according to Charlie Benante<\/strong> in an interview with The Vinyl Guide Podcast<\/em>.<\/p>\n “Yeah. We talked about [a live album],” said Benante<\/strong>. “We’ll see. We record a lot, and it’s probably just spending time with it and see what shows are good, or take a song from this show or a song from that show and compile it for a live record. I would love to do that.”<\/p>\n \n
