So were these albums really worth the wait? Check them out below and decide for yourselves.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/satan\">Satan<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s <em>Life Sentence<\/em> is one of the greatest NWOBHM comeback albums. After 27 years of dormancy (not counting the band\u2019s rebranding as Pariah) <em>Life Sentence<\/em> dropped outta nowhere in 2013 and proved that traditional heavy metal is truly a timeless genre. <strong>Satan<\/strong> have since dropped three more albums that\u2019ve been unfairly slept on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Satan - Life Sentence\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i5KETz-rqfg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/angel-witch\">Angel Witch<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s self-titled debut album is a landmark for British heavy metal. It\u2019s just so damn good, directly influencing the burgeoning thrash movement of the early 1980s. The band seemed to be done with new albums after 1986\u2019s <em>Frontal Assault<\/em>, but when 2012 came around, the world suddenly had a new <strong>Angel Witch<\/strong> record. As <em>Above, So Below<\/em> received fairly good reviews, and <strong>Angel Witch<\/strong> continues ripping to this day.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Angel Witch - Dead Sea Scrolls (OFFICIAL)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OVXv97cBNzY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Remember when <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/at-the-gates\">At the Gates<\/a><\/strong> invented metalcore then disappeared for like 20 years? 1995\u2019s <em>Slaughter of the Soul<\/em> is still widely considered to be the Swedish band\u2019s signature release, and <em>At War With Reality<\/em> was undoubtedly one of 2014\u2019s best metal albums. Hell, this very website gave the album a perfect score. Revisit this one, because it holds up extremely well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"AT THE GATES - At War With Reality (Album Track)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aoJYZITMZAI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><em>Surgical Fucking Steel<\/em> \u2014 a comeback for the history books. Few acts have experienced the cult fan base of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/carcass\">Carcass<\/a><\/strong>, the grind innovators who released five gore-obsessed masterworks then pissed off for nearly two decades. With the metal world having undergone vast changes from 1996 to 2013, <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/carcass\">Carcass<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> proved their much-aped style couldn\u2019t be outdone by anyone but <strong>Bill Steer<\/strong> and <strong>Jeff Walker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"CARCASS - Unfit For Human Consumption (OFFICIAL VIDEO)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5KKYJD09qCk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>For those who can\u2019t get enough of the team of <strong>Mike Portnoy<\/strong>, <strong>John Petrucci<\/strong> and <strong>Jordan Rudess<\/strong>, the wait for <em>Liquid Tension Experiment 3<\/em> felt much longer than 22 years. The 2021 album was a beautiful gift for the COVID era \u2014 nearly two hours of hyper technical jam tracks and even a cover of <strong>George Gershwin<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cRhapsody in Blue.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Liquid Tension Experiment - Hypersonic (OFFICIAL VIDEO)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OSNVo6bZGUs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Late \u201860s occult rock may be one of the most underrated eras of underground music. At the very forefront of Britain\u2019s occult scene was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/coven\">Coven<\/a><\/strong>, whose 1969 debut album set the stage for acts like <strong>Black Sabbath<\/strong>. After releasing 1974\u2019s <em>Blood on the Snow<\/em>, <strong>Coven<\/strong> went into a deep hibernation, taking nearly 40 years before returning with 2013\u2019s <em>Jinx<\/em>. It was the right album title, because vocalist <strong>Jinx Dawson<\/strong> still sounds fucking incredible.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"Coven- Epitaph, Jinx 2013\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tHqyRy_dXXQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Imagine inventing death metal, making two of metal\u2019s most influential albums, then fucking off until 2019. For <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/possessed\">Possessed<\/a><\/strong>, there was absolutely no rust to be heard on <em>Revelations of Oblivion<\/em>, which came out 37 years after <em>Beyond the Gates<\/em>. <em>Revelations<\/em> hits just like the old stuff, proving there\u2019s no expiration date when you\u2019ve got the secret formula. What a comeback!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"POSSESSED - &quot;GRAVEN&quot; (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H0DCqdF7EzE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>One of America\u2019s most slept-on heavy metal innovators, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/sir-lord-baltimore\">Sir Lord Baltimore<\/a><\/strong> basically penned the blueprint for stoner and desert rock. After <strong>Sir Lord Baltimore<\/strong>\u2019s 1971 sophomore album, a third record was written but ultimately shelved until 2006. The lyrics to <em>Sir Lord Baltimore III Raw<\/em> were rewritten to represent the band\u2019s new Christian ideology, and it was the band\u2019s last album before frontman <strong>John Garner <\/strong>died in 2015.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"[Gonna] Fill The World With Fire\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NKooiyiu06E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Compared to the rest of these albums, the wait for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/tool\">Tool&#8217;<\/a><\/strong>s <em>Fear Inoculum<\/em> was the blink of an eye, but man it felt like forever in real time. The &#8220;new <strong>Tool<\/strong> album&#8221; had basically become a meme by 2019, but when <em>Fear Inoculum<\/em> dropped after 13 years, the <strong>Tool<\/strong> faithful was finally satiated. <em>Fear Inoculum<\/em> isn&#8217;t <em>Lateralus<\/em> or <em>\u00c6nima<\/em>, but it&#8217;s got some all-timers like &#8220;Pneuma&#8221; and &#8220;7empest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe title=\"TOOL - Pneuma (Audio)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5ClCaPmAA7s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/sacred-reich\">Sacred Reich<\/a><\/strong> barely went away since forming in 1985, but the band put out no new music from 1996\u2019s <em>Heal<\/em> to 2019\u2019s <em>Awakening<\/em>. After sipping heavy on that 1990s <strong>Pantera<\/strong> juice on <em>Heal<\/em>, fans wondered if they\u2019d get <em>Ignorance<\/em>-era <strong>Reich<\/strong> or <em>Heal<\/em>-era <strong>Reich<\/strong> in 2019\u2026 and the answer was\u2026 kinda both? <em>Awakening<\/em> turned out to be a killer blend of <strong>Reich<\/strong>\u2019s discography, blending shredding thrash with thick, groovy hooks and powerful vocals.
