Angels On The Battlefield<\/strong> \u2013 featuring former members of Butcher Babies<\/strong> (bassist Jason Klein<\/strong>), and Voodoo Kungfu<\/strong> (guitarist JD McGibney<\/strong> and drummer William Liermann<\/strong>) alongside TV and film composer Chris Wirsig<\/strong> on keyboards \u2013 is now streaming a reimagined version of their song “Modern Prometheus”. The single is inspired by Mary Shelley<\/strong>‘s Frankenstein<\/em>, and serves to highlight the anxieities of Victor Frankenstein<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “Each and every one of us faces intense anxiety at some point in our lives,” says JD McGibney<\/strong>. “When I first read Frankenstein<\/em> back in high school, I strongly related to Victor’s intense desire to establish a sense of control over his own life, all while trying to protect the people he loved.<\/p>\n “As time went on, I was eventually diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and so much of my past decision making, feelings, and my reactions to things started to make sense under this new light. I re-read Frankenstein<\/em> as an adult, after my diagnosis, and the story resonated with me just as strongly as it did when I was a teenager; though in a brand new light.<\/p>\n “‘Modern Prometheus’ was written to highlight the intensity a person feels when stuck in the vice grip of an anxiety loop. Nothing else seems important, and you have tunnel vision; you can’t see what’s happening around you, and you don’t think of the consequences of your actions because you’re lost in a sea of powerful emotions. Being lost in the middle of that can be terrifying, and finding your way out can seem like a herculean task.<\/p>\n “It felt important to share these feelings to let other people out there that have felt similar things, or may be dealing with similar things right now, know that they aren’t alone in their struggles. For me, seeing Victor<\/strong> feel like he had to save the world from its own mortality on his own was his downfall.
