Haken<\/a><\/strong> guitarist Richard Henshall<\/strong> is now streaming his new single “Mu” from the upcoming Mu Vol. 1<\/em> EP, due out June 7. The EP is the first of three coming, which is great news \u2013 we could always use more Henshall prog weirdness in our lives!<\/p>\n The EPs will be released throughout 2024 and promise to be some of his most richly textured, adventurous music to date. Henshall<\/strong><\/strong> is joined by drummer Lang Zhao<\/strong> and saxophonist Adam Carillio<\/strong>, while he handles guitar, bass and keyboard duties.<\/p>\n “I got the initial rhythmic idea for ‘Mu’ on a flight home from a Haken<\/a><\/strong> tour just before the lockdown kicked off in the UK,” said Henshall<\/strong>. “Little did I know that it\u2019d end up being the catalyst for a trilogy of jazz-tinged, instrumental EPs.<\/p>\n “The rhythmic powerhouse, Lang Zhao<\/strong>, is on the drums and his highly creative playing style has really elevated these arrangements to new levels. This new collection of songs has a strong focus on rhythm and explores some new ground for me as a writer and guitar player.
