Investigation Discovery\u2019s Chris Brown: A History of Violence<\/em> addresses Chris Brown<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s numerous allegations of abuse and sexual assault abuse allegations \u2014 starting with his 2009 arrest for physically assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Us Weekly<\/em>\u2018s exclusive clip from the upcoming documentary, which airs on Sunday, October 27, as part of the network\u2019s No Excuse for Abuse campaign, Cheryl Dorsey from the Los Angeles Police Department read details from the 15-year-old incident report.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt states that Rihanna and Chris were driving in his car around town. Rihanna had seen something on his phone that made her think he was dealing with another female,\u201d she states in the doc. \u201cAnd by his own admission, when she confronted him in the car he got a little annoyed with her. The nerve of her to have the temerity to ask him a question about whatever it is that he is doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broadcast journalist Sharon Carpenter<\/strong> elaborated on the incident<\/a>, saying, \u201cChris tried to shove her out of the car by opening the door and throwing her out. She had her seatbelt on so that didn\u2019t work. Then he punched her in the eye. He kept punching her and her mouth was filling up with blood.\u201d<\/p>\n

Netflix and Hulu usually corner the genre by focusing on the most recent \u2014 and most surprising \u2014 cases. It was Investigation Discovery, however, that [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the police report, Brown, 35, threatened Rihanna, 36, as the incident continued<\/a> to escalate.<\/p>\n

\u201cChris Brown had said to her, \u2018I am going to beat the s\u2014 out of you,’\u201d Carpenter read from the documents. \u201cShe called her assistant \u2014 who didn\u2019t pick up \u2014 but Rihanna pretended to be on the phone with her. Likely she was hoping this would get Chris to calm down and come to his senses.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cBut then he said, \u2018Now I am really going to kill you!\u2019 He then put her in a chokehold so tight that she began to lose consciousness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dorsey noted that the abuse was taking place while Brown was behind the wheel, adding, \u201c[Chris was] driving, punching her with his right fist as he drives with his left hand. This goes on for blocks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown was arrested in 2009 after he physically assaulted Rihanna<\/a>. He pleaded guilty to the felony charge and served five years of probation, in addition to community service and domestic violence counseling.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pretty sure we can always be friends,\u201d Brown told Larry King<\/strong> in his first interview since his arrest in 2009. \u201cI don\u2019t know about our relationship, but I just know definitely that we ended as friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown and Rihanna briefly reconciled in 2012<\/a> before calling it quits again one year later. Following their split, Rihanna described how it felt to answer questions about the attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s in the past, and I don\u2019t want to say, \u2018Get over it,\u2019 because it\u2019s a very serious thing that is still relevant. It\u2019s still real,\u201d Rihanna, who now shares two kids with ASAP Rock<\/strong>y, told Vanity Fair<\/em> in 2015. \u201cA lot of women, a lot of young girls, are still going through it. A lot of young boys, too. It\u2019s not a subject to sweep under the rug, so I can\u2019t just dismiss it like it wasn\u2019t anything, or I don\u2019t take it seriously. But, for me, and anyone who\u2019s been a victim of domestic abuse, nobody wants to even remember it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rihanna recalled feeling \u201cvery protective\u201d of Brown<\/a> after the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt that people didn\u2019t understand him. But you know, you realize after a while that in that situation you\u2019re the enemy,\u201d she continued. \u201cYou want the best for them, but if you remind them of their failures, or if you remind them of bad moments in their life, or even if you say, \u2018I\u2019m willing to put up with something.\u2019 They think less of you \u2014 because they know you don\u2019t deserve what they\u2019re going to give.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown has continued to face legal troubles since his 2009 arrest. He started dating Karrueche Tran<\/strong> after his split from Rihanna in 2012, and they remained together until 2014. Tran filed for a restraining order against Brown in 2017, citing allegations of physical abuse. The order was later extended<\/a> \u2014 Brown has denied the abuse accusations.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Brown was sued by a woman claiming he drugged and raped her at a party two years prior. He replied to the claims via Instagram Stories in January, writing, \u201cI HOPE Y\u2019ALL SEE THIS PATTERN OF whenever I\u2019m releasing music or projects \u2018THEY\u2019 try to pull some real bulls\u2014.\u201d<\/p>\n
