Eric Winter<\/strong><\/a> has a few hot takes when it comes to his ideal Thanksgiving menu.<\/p>\n

\u201cHate\u2019s a strong word, but I\u2019m not team turkey,\u201d Winter, 48, exclusively admits in the latest issue of Us Weekly<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI\u2019d rather have a chicken or something else that\u2019s there. If it\u2019s going to be turkey, it\u2019s going to be dark meat, or, like, crunchy skin [on the turkey]. Just not a big turkey guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

While The Rookie<\/em> star isn\u2019t a big fan of turkey, his favorite Thanksgiving food is one of the holiday\u2019s most classic dishes. \u201c[I love] the sweet potato, sort of, casserole with marshmallows on top,\u201d she shares. \u201cSweet and creamy and just cinnamon \u2014 all the right flavors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also high on his list is none other than pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. \u201cIt just symbolizes the time,\u201d he says. \u201cIt feels good. It feels right. It\u2019s very fall and I love the flavor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since tying the knot with Roselyn S\u00e1nchez<\/strong> in 2008, Winter\u2019s Thanksgiving spreads have featured a variety of traditional and new recipes. \u201cBecause my wife is Puerto Rican, they spice everything up in a different way. The flavor\u2019s fantastic,\u201d he explains. \u201cPuerto Rican Thanksgiving is definitely to me way more exciting than what I\u2019m used to as an American Thanksgiving, just getting out just great pasteles and tostones and mofongo and all this stuff that they do and the way they cook their food. So, I think that\u2019s the tradition for us now. That\u2019s fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Food aside, Winter tells Us<\/em> his favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the leftovers. \u201cI actually think sometimes it tastes better the next day when you kind of get it all on a plate and it\u2019s just mashed in there,\u201d he shares.<\/p>\n

One drink that\u2019s sure to be served at Winter\u2019s holiday celebrations this year is his Palm Republic rum. The company \u2014 which he cofounded with Brad Parkes<\/strong> earlier this year \u2014 was inspired by a trip he took to Puerto Rico to meet S\u00e1nchez\u2019s family for the first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had never been a rum drinker and I was like, \u2018This is actually pretty fantastic,\u2019\u201d he tells Us<\/em>. \u201c[It] got me inspired to start trying rums all over Puerto Rico and while I traveled, I tried different rums. \u2026 It was like bringing people together. That was sort of the idea behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although S\u00e1nchez \u2014 with whom Winter shares kids Sebella, 12, and Dylan, 7 \u2014 doesn\u2019t drink, the actor says she\u2019s been \u201csuper supportive\u201d of his new business venture. \u201cHer family\u2019s all been way behind me jumping into this space because in the Caribbean, rum is there,\u201d he says. \u201cThat\u2019s their bourbon, that\u2019s their whiskey, that\u2019s what they drink all the time. South America, same thing. And what I\u2019ve learned over this process is rum is one of the most used spirits out in the world. \u201c<\/p>\n
