Trump to spearhead leadership at the securities agency. In a Dec. 4 Truth Social post, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/113595807734621827\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">wrote<\/a>: \u201cI am delighted to announce the nomination of Paul Atkins to be the next Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President-elect described Atkins \u201ca proven leader for common sense regulation\u201d, reinforcing a plan to approach SEC regulation differently.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crypto supporter Paul Atkins<\/h2>\n<p>Atkins started Patomak Global Partners in 2009 after a seven-year term as an SEC Commissioner under former President George W. Bush from 2002 to 2008. The consulting firm has crypto exchanges and decentralized finance operators as clients, according to Patomak\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p>Trump reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/donald-trump-may-tap-paul-atkins-as-sec-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offered<\/a> Atkins the SEC chair role on Dec. 3. Shortly after, reports citing unnamed sources said Atkins was reluctant to lead the agency following Gary Gensler\u2019s tenure. The nomination requires Senate confirmation before becoming official.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Washington and Crypto react<\/h2>\n<p>Crypto exchanges and Republican policymakers hailed the news as good for digital assets via X. Coinbase CLO Paul Grewal <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/iampaulgrewal\/status\/1864371653397954916\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">expressed<\/a> anticipation for the potential new SEC boss.
