In fact, according to our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.cengage.com\/2024-graduate-employability-report\/\">2024 Graduate Employability report<\/a>, 69% of education institutions are facilitating internships, cooperative education programs and work-related learning opportunities to provide students with practical experience.<\/p>\n<h2>Experience MindTap with GitHub<\/h2>\n<p>With that in mind, we\u2019d like to share exciting news for computer science instructors hoping to equip their students with real-world career experience. Over the last several months, we\u2019ve made key improvements to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cengage.com\/mindtap\/github-codespaces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MindTap with GitHub Codespaces<\/a>. GitHub is the world\u2019s leading AI-powered developer platform to build, scale and deliver secure software, allowing your students to practice and code in an actual platform that\u2019s used by coding professionals. By integrating <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/features\/codespaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GitHub Codespaces<\/a> with MindTap, students can complete their coding assignments in an authentic coding lab environment, anytime, anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>MindTap with GitHub Codespaces not only facilitates learning and practice, but also ensures that your students are well prepared as they enter the job market. By actively using industry-standard coding tools, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cengage.com\/discipline-computing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">computer science<\/a> students gain valuable coding experience and proficiency, positioning them to seamlessly transition into their desired careers.<\/p>\n<h2>Significant improvements and updates<\/h2>\n<p>1. <strong>Two Critical Functionality Updates:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Review Mode<\/strong> lets you review student work directly in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cengage.com\/mindtap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MindTap<\/a>, eliminating the need for students to bundle and share their work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Auto-Grading Functionality <\/strong>has been reinstated for those of you using the following Web Programming titles:\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since each title has a mix of auto-graded, manually graded and practice labs, we suggest you search the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cengage.com\/learn\/cengage-instructor-center\/?\">Cengage Instructor Center<\/a> for your title to get the latest list of labs, available under the Resources tab.<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Better Support for Introductory-Level Students \u2014 Based on Customer Feedback:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We\u2019ve made <strong>updates to existing instructions and feedback<\/strong>, including providing additional information where needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>UX\/UI Enhancements<\/strong>, such as the minimization of select popups, help students focus on the salient parts of the experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We added <strong>prerequisite assignments<\/strong> that aim to familiarize students with the GitHub experience. These assignments are available in the <strong>Getting Started Folder <\/strong>in the MindTap learning path.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Additional Reviews and Quality Assurance<\/strong> were implemented overall to address errors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3. <strong>Companion Tab New Features:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pagination<\/strong> allows your students to easily navigate through tasks within an assignment. With just a few clicks, they can jump to the exact page they\u2019re searching for.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Selective File Execution <\/strong>is specific to programming languages titles (Python, C++, Java and C#), and gives students the option to select and run code on a specific file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reset Exercise Button <\/strong>gives students the option to reset their progress, providing them with a fresh version of the assignment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sidebar Updates <\/strong>include the new <strong>Task Summary button, <\/strong>which gives students the completion status of their tasks, as well as the new<strong> run code button<\/strong>, which has been updated from a lightning bolt icon to a standard play button icon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4. <strong>Support Resources:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All <strong>Getting Started <\/strong>resources for students are now available in the Getting Started folder within the learning path of your MindTap course. You can also locate this content in our <a href=\"https:\/\/help.cengage.com\/mindtap\/mt-student\/mindtap\/coding-labs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student Help<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/help.cengage.com\/mindtap\/mt-instructor\/mindtap\/coding-labs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instructor Help<\/a>\u00a0guides.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A Comprehensive List of Labs <\/strong>associated with your title is now available in the Cengage Instructor Center, under the Resources tab.
