But renewed volatility returned as investors digested the weak economic data, inflationary concerns, and lack of clarity on trade negotiations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>April\u2019s losses follow a sharp drop after Trump\u2019s April 2 announcement of \u201creciprocal\u201d tariffs, which sent the S&amp;P 500 down more than 11% at one point.<\/p>\n<p>On Truth Social, Trump sought to shift blame for the economic slide, writing, \u201cThis is Biden\u2019s Stock Market, not Trump\u2019s,\u201d and claimed a \u201cBiden Overhang\u201d was behind the poor numbers. He urged patience, saying his policies would take time to deliver results.<\/p>\n<p>The stock market under Trump\u2019s second term has posted one of the weakest performances for any president\u2019s first 100 days in modern history.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Analysts point to continued policy uncertainty as a primary cause. \u201cThis is very clearly brought on by the uncertainty surrounding the tariffs, period,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/04\/30\/investing\/us-stock-market\/index.html#:~:text=%E2%80%9CWe%20don't%20expect%20that,surrounding%20the%20tariffs%2C%20period.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Kelly Bouchillon of Sound View Wealth Advisors.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, major companies like First Solar and GE HealthCare cut forecasts due to tariff-related headwinds.
