The Fountain Theatre is pleased to announce two major milestones in its storied history. First, the appointment of\u00a0Johannah Maynard Edwards<\/strong>\u00a0as its new managing director. And second, the retirement of beloved development director\u00a0Barbara Goodhill<\/strong>\u00a0after 12\u00a0years of transformative service to the organization.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThese announcements allow us to celebrate and amplify the past while we look towards an exciting future,\u201d says Fountain Theatre artistic director\u00a0Raymond O. Caldwell<\/strong>. \u201cBarbara\u2019s vision, dedication and love of community transformed the Fountain into the award-winning, nationally recognized theater it is today. We are equally thrilled to welcome Johannah, whose leadership, creativity and commitment to equity will help write our next chapter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Edwards served as executive artistic director of the National Women\u2019s Theatre Festival in Raleigh, NC, where she produced, directed and championed hundreds of productions by artists of underrepresented genders. A nationally recognized leader in arts accessibility, Johannah received the Kennedy Center\u2019s LEAD\u00ae Award for Emerging Leaders,\u00a0and she is chief ambassador for PAAL, the Parent Artist Advocacy League.\u00a0She is passionate about developing new socio-political work and fostering equitable, inclusive spaces for artists and audiences alike.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m honored to join the Fountain Theatre at this pivotal moment,\u201d she says. \u201cThis is a company with a deep legacy of bold, socially conscious work and a genuine commitment to community. She has led its fundraising and development efforts with unmatched skill, creativity and passion. Under her stewardship, the theater has expanded its donor base, secured critical funding for award-winning productions, and deepened its engagement with the Los Angeles community.<\/p>\n of her invaluable contributions, the Fountain will dedicate the\u00a0Barbara Goodhill Community Room<\/strong>, a welcoming space for audiences, artists and neighbors to gather before and after performances, participate in talkbacks, and engage in meaningful dialogue. The new space will serve as a lasting tribute to Goodhill\u2019s belief that theater thrives when it brings people together. It will be made possible through gifts to the theater\u2019s\u00a035th Anniversary\u00a0<\/strong>campaign.
