This is a love letter to the great English Christmas carols,
\nfrom \u201cThere Is No Rose\u201d to \u201cThe Boar\u2019s Head\u201d.<\/p>\n
Did you know that not just any Christmas song is a carol? The
\ntrue carol, in all its earthy splendor, is a distinctive product of
\nthe Catholic middle ages. Yet our forefathers didn\u2019t limit caroling
\nto Christmas: they wrote carols for every season of the year
\ncovering the entire story of our Redemption, not to mention secular
\ntopics at times.<\/p>\n
This episode explores the origin of carols in England, their
\ncultural meaning, and how they were suppressed by the Puritans and
\nwere revived in modern times. And of course, you\u2019ll hear a lot of
