Bringing Up Bates<\/em><\/a> star Erin Bates<\/strong><\/a> is fighting for her life following the birth of her and husband Chad Paine<\/strong>\u2019s seventh child.<\/p>\n

Paine announced via Instagram on August 27, 2025, that he and Bates had welcomed their son, Henry Blythe.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a long and emotional labor, our miracle arrived. Henry Blythe was born August 25th. \ud83d\udc99,\u201d he wrote. \u201cHenry is doing wonderful, but we would so appreciate your prayers<\/a> for Erin as she continues to recover from some complications. We thank the Lord for carrying us through and for the gift of this precious boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paine later revealed that his wife had experienced septic shock after she suffered infections in her body.<\/p>\n

What Is Septic Shock?<\/h2>\n

Septic shock is the last and most severe stage of sepsis, which occurs \u201cwhen your immune system has an extreme reaction to an infection,\u201d according to Cleveland Clinic<\/a>. \u201cThe inflammation throughout your body can cause dangerously low blood pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the early stage of sepsis, one might experience symptoms like \u201cfast heart rate, fever or hypothermia (low body temperature), shaking or chills, warm, clammy or sweaty skin, confusion or disorientation, hyperventilation (rapid breathing) and shortness of breath.\u201d Sepsis can develop into severe sepsis, followed by septic shock. Symptoms of septic shock include \u201cvery low blood pressure, lightheadedness, little or no urine output, heart palpitations, cool and pale limbs and skin rash.\u201d<\/p>\n

Septic shock is most commonly treated with antibiotics and intravenous (IV) fluids.<\/p>\n

A UTI and Kidney Infection Led to Erin Bates\u2019 Septic Shock<\/h2>\n

Paine posted an update on September 1, 2025, sharing more details about the \u201ccomplications\u201d that Bates had experienced.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and support you have given on our behalf. It\u2019s been a week since our miracle, Henry came into the world. He is doing well in the NICU and is our bundle of happiness,\u201d he began.<\/p>\n

Paine continued, \u201cWe had asked for prayer for recovery for Erin due to complications. Her labor was longer and more intense than previous births. She has been fighting through it and has been such a light and sweet testimony of grace to nurses, staff, and doctors alike. We are all moved by her kindness and gratefulness in the midst of pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paine explained that Bates \u201cdeveloped a severe UTI and kidney infection, which sent her into septic shock<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is currently still in the ICU as doctors continue to treat, diagnose, and search for answers. We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world. We are holding onto God\u2019s promises,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Erin Bates Suffered a \u2018Severe Seizure\u2019 Amid Her Recovery<\/h2>\n

Paine shared in another update on September 4, 2025, that Bates had suffered a setback in her recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have so many mixed emotions as I share this. Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erin\u2019s infection was getting better, but we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty, and tears,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Paine added that Bates is \u201cin the ICU\u201d as doctors continue to run \u201cscans and tests to determine the cause\u201d of her illness.<\/p>\n

\u201cErin is extremely weak and spent hours only half conscious. As her husband, it is one of the hardest things I\u2019ve ever faced \u2014 to sit by her side and watch her struggle while being so helpless to ease her suffering. I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can\u2019t even imagine life without my best friend,\u201d he continued. \u201cThe hours have been long and heavy, and I know many hearts are aching to see her this way, along with mine. We hold on to faith that healing is coming, even in the midst of the unknown. Your prayers are felt and we are forever grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erin Bates\u2019 Recovery Updates<\/b><\/h2>\n

Nearly two weeks after giving birth to baby Henry, Bates appeared to be on the mend<\/span><\/a> after she was hospitalized for septic shock.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith tears in our eyes, we are praising the Lord that we are on the road to recovery,\u201d Bates and Paine wrote via a joint Instagram<\/span><\/a> post on September 6. \u201cYour prayers have definitely touched heaven \ud83d\ude4f\ud83c\udffb.\u201d<\/p>\n
