A self-described \u2018medical oddity<\/a>\u2019
\n has found himself in an exclusive club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Conservation International\u2019s <\/span> Neil Vora<\/a> was selected for <\/span> TIME\u2019s Next 100 list<\/a> \u2014 alongside other rising leaders reshaping culture, science and society.<\/span><\/p>\n

Published annually, TIME\u2019s Next 100 celebrates emerging voices who are redefining what\u2019s possible across their fields \u2014 from climate advocates and tech innovators to artists and political changemakers. This year\u2019s list honors those charting bold paths toward a more sustainable and just world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vora, a physician and epidemiologist, is in the business of preventing future pandemics. He is at the forefront of a movement to show that human health and the health of nature are intrinsically linked<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At Conservation International, he has sought to bring this message to a broader, global audience \u2014 connecting the loss and fragmentation of tropical forests and other ecosystems to <\/span> the emergence of infectious diseases<\/a>
\n and tracking the human health benefits of the organization\u2019s efforts to protect and restore nature.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spent my career as a \u2018disease detective,\u2019 chasing outbreaks across the globe, and one lesson stands out: Our health cannot be separated from the health of the planet. Every step we take to protect nature is also a step to protect ourselves,\u201d Vora said. \u201cThis recognition is not just about me \u2014 it reflects a growing understanding that people are a part of nature, not apart from nature. There is no future for humanity without nature.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
