There is a powerful principle in leadership that Jesus modeled perfectly: He spent the majority of His time with the twelve, not the twelve hundred. Even the greatest Leader the world has ever known prioritized deep, relational mentorship.<\/span><\/p>\n We were created for relationships. While Jesus is always our ultimate Mentor, God also places people in our lives to walk alongside us, to sharpen us, and to help us grow.<\/span><\/p>\n In the biblical account of Elijah and Elisha, we see a beautiful illustration of what it looks like to hunger for growth. Elisha didn\u2019t just follow Elijah; he was bold enough to ask for a <\/span>double portion<\/b> of his spirit.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Can <\/span>you<\/span><\/i> be that bold? Here are three things to consider about your own growth:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Preparation:<\/b> Elisha spent years serving before he led. Are you willing to “plow the field” while you wait for God\u2019s timing? Are you willing to serve other leaders as the Lord prepares you to lead?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Surrender:<\/b> Elisha burned his farming tools to ensure he would never go back. What old ambitions do you need to surrender in order to move forward?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Proximity:<\/b> Elisha stuck with Elijah wherever he went. Are you seeking out mentors who are further along the path than you are?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n You don\u2019t have to have everything figured out to be mentored, and you don\u2019t have to be perfect to mentor someone else.
