After Kayce\u2019s wife and love interest died on Yellowstone<\/a>\u2018<\/em>s Marshals<\/em>, Ash Santos<\/em> is weighing in on if that affected her thoughts on her character, Andrea, getting together with the youngest Dutton sibling.<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually didn\u2019t think about it until now,\u201d Santos, 33, exclusively told Us<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s an overall theme in Yellowstone that no one really gets to live a happy ending so I am aware of that. It\u2019s something where you naturally and selfishly hope that your character will get her happy ending one day but then you also have to remember it\u2019s not the way of the show where people get to bask in their paradise and happily ever after for very long.\u201d<\/p>\n

Santos noted that the idea of an onscreen death has occurred<\/a> to her even outside of a potential romance between Andrea and Kayce (Grimes).<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can never feel too safe in this industry because you don\u2019t know. And you know they always have to be in service to the story. So no matter what happens, you just hope that you can continue to do it,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Before CBS picked up the show centered on Kayce Dutton, the Paramount+ franchise started with Taylor Sheridan<\/strong>\u2018s hit series Yellowstone<\/em>, which premiered in 2018. Fans got to know the Duttons \u2014 including Kayce and Monica (Kelsey Asbill<\/strong>e), who remained at the center of the show until the finale.<\/p>\n

The franchise, however, has been plagued with death after two members of the Dutton family were killed in the OG series. Monica and Kayce\u2019s love interest Dolly (Ellyn Jameson<\/strong>) were also killed in the spinoff as fans continue to hold out hope that he finds love with Santos\u2019 Andrea.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t see it at first. When I first got the role, I didn\u2019t realize and I really wanted to stay with that because I think it gets complicated when you\u2019re playing a character if you know everything that\u2019s going to happen in the future. It\u2019s kind of nice to just let yourself be surprised as if it is your life,\u201d Santos told Us<\/em>. \u201cSo with Andrea and Kayce, the connection between them in season 2 grows even deeper because he is the only person that she truly lets in to what she\u2019s learning about her father because she knows he\u2019s the only one that can relate because he\u2019s gone through the same thing with John Dutton.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cAnd the way he volunteers to come to New York with her and really stands by her, she can really lean on him. That\u2019s just so special for any friendship. There\u2019s a scene at the end of episode 15 that I won\u2019t say anything about but we filmed it Saturday night and the Manhattan skyline was in front of us and we were on the water and it was night time and we were under like the Brooklyn Bridge and I was like, \u2018Oh my God, this is stunning! The fans are gonna love this.’\u201d<\/p>\n
