The 2026 Daytime Emmys are October 30, & Young & the Restless has two women up for Supporting Actress. One of them is Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), & if anyone has earned it, it’s her.
Josh Griffith’s Favorite Punching Bag
Head writer Josh Griffith has put Mariah through the wringer. Whatever he throws at her, Camryn Grimes catches it & makes it work. Let’s review.
- Ian, again. Ian Ward (Ray Wise) made her childhood a nightmare. Then he came back to Genoa City. Then he wouldn’t stay out of her head.
- The kidnapping. Mariah snapped & kidnapped Dominic, the baby she carried for Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway). Camryn Grimes played that breakdown so well that you were scared for her & scared of her at the same time.
- The guilt & the recovery. She ended up in a mental health facility, working through trauma with Ian popping up like a bad dream in a priest collar.
Most actors get one of these storylines in a career. Mariah got all of them, back to back.

Then There’s Tessa Porter…
As if that weren’t enough, her wife cheated on her. Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) hooked up with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei). Daniel, the unemployed guy strumming his guitar in Chancellor Park. The town hobo.
Mariah survived Ian & a kidnapping, & her reward is getting cheated on for the town hobo. Somebody get this woman a vacation, & maybe a black knit hat that doesn’t come with a kidnapping attached.
Will Mariah Win?
She’s up against her own castmate, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland), which makes this one tough. I’ll save my Traci feelings for #1. I will say this: Young & the Restless has kidnapped plenty of people, but nobody sold it like Mariah. If she walks away with the Emmy, she earned every second of it.
Tomorrow, #5: Michael Graziadei as Daniel Romalotti.
Has Mariah earned this Emmy? It’s not my first day watching Y&R & it isn’t yours either. What’s your take?
